07.07.10 seattle: on 07/07, at 7.

what were YOU doing? I was watching dwele at the triple door lounge. oh goodness was that a great show! the man's lyrics melt my mind! the set was awesome, his crowd interaction was bomb, and this was by far the best small venue show i've seen since... neyo two years ago?.. oh this man makes me smile from ear to ear. words can't express all the love that i feel... <3 !

06.07.10 danny's screamers!

the BEST solution for a hot day. i usually choose rootbeer slush with the vanilla soft serve. mmmm it's an even cooler take on a rootbeer float!
the only place that i know of that sells this fabulous concoction is in richmond (garden city and francis i think) at danny's screamers. it's been there a while now and i'm glad its still around. taste one if you ever get a chance.

Low rider cruiser for sale: $200 O.B.O. **holler at me!**

It's only been out on a ride about 5 times.

It's tuned up, detailed, there's air in the tires, and it's pretty much awesome.

It has to go because it just takes up too much space that this guy does not have.

There's no kickstand, BUT we're throwing in its original cruiser handlebar as well as the ape hanger handlebar (as shown in the photos) FREE :)

Please holler at me if you are interested.

01.07.10 can i get a suuuu... -man!

This is one of my most favourite Filipino desserts. It's mainly pinipig (sticky rice) and buko (young coconut) with sugar, topped with yummy toasted coconut shreds, wrapped in a banana leaf. SO delicious.

28.06.10 butt end

So one thing I forgot to mention about the weekend was that it was the Gay Pride weekend. Even though we had an early start to the day, we only caught the butt end of the parade. But there were still lotsa people there yelling "pride!" at me so I felt the love.

We hit up South Center mall and I just HAD to try on the jewelries at forever 21. Little sister would L O V E these rings... All of them were under 12$!

Angelo and Vince decided to come down and spend a manly overnight excursion in Seatown. So we hooked up with them to show them where P.J. Malone from Ireland rests. And that is coincidentally right beside where the graves of Bruce and Brandon Lee are. So they took their photos and I took a pic of P.J. Malone's grave, just to prop him out.

So after the grave, we rode out to a delicious taco truck... Actually, it was more like a bus. The back end was the kitchen and the front half was the seating area. Next time I go, I'll take a pic of me with my head out the window. Until then, a shot of Angelo and I, as well as the long view of the bus will just hafta do.

Seattle is always such an adventure for me. I love coming down here. Makes me :D

27.06.10 ponies and rainbows!

I spent this past weekend in Seattle... Mad fun!
Ate at Nijo's, a sushi bar and grill with a wicked dj (he spun highschool classics like Color Me Bad and DMX!). They had fun rolls like the ponies and rainbows maki (crab salad, tempura prawn and BBQ eel sauce... No ponies or rainbows for real).
Then it was off to HG Lodge for some DJ Cosmo Baker. He killed it! And he did a wicked MJ set. I was almost as ecstatic as the guy who knew the words to almost every song.
Today started out with a manicure and pedicure at my favourite salon, Queen Bee Nail and Spa. Wicked job as usual for just 25$ before tip.
Before long we went to eat. But wait! Where to? A Hawaiian joint in Silver City in Seattle called Kona Kitchen. The food was delicious! But the best part was that it was opened by the bad guy in Karate Kid Part 2! Seriously stupid awesome. After our meal, I got to play the hand drum thing that made the bad guy lose! And Ron got to get beat up by the bad guy's action figure (his name is Chozen... Yeah super cheesy. "The man" totally picked that name). How cool is it that Yoji Okomoto has his own action figure?! Not to shabby!

13.06.10 what did one garden gnome say to the other?

See the full gallery on Posterous
at first i thought these mini figures were corny. tacky even. it's good they're so small that you wouldn't notice them til you're up close. if they were any bigger, i'd be the crazy lady with the garden of statues ("is that you?" hahaha that's the punchline to my joke. to be said with a filipino accent ;p ).

but when i do the boring chore of watering the garden, they make it less boring. particularly the plastic tarantula.

12.06.10 Filipino independence day with the biking barkada!

today was an absolutely beautiful day for a bike ride. the barkada met up at the plaza of nations and we were off... seawall, english bay, lost lagoon, coal harbour, trade and convention centre, crab park (where these photos are taken), gastown, robson, granville then home.

i had a great ride. maybe it was the asthma meds and ibuprofen i took before i left. nah, i think it was my company. without fail, the guys i roll with never cease to make me feel good. I enjoy their company. there's no gossip, petty ish or negativity that hangs around when we're together. it's like a happy, fun-loving, positive attitude everytime we kick it. and i don't ever feel like the "girl" in the group either. i'm a rider, just like the boys, and we ride cuz that's what we do. we're so united. it's like how a gang of filipinos SHOULD be.

i could not have thought of a better way to spend a beautiful filipino independence day than with my biking barkada. thanks guys.

RGL United: 2010 season write up

Their beginnings date back to 2001, when the best of two teams decided to merge as one for their debut in the Kelowna Dragon Boat Festival.  Since then, this competitive recreational team had been decorated with more hardware than you could shake a stick at.  Over the years, members have come and gone, but the proud spirit of RGL United was tattooed on their soul once they set foot in the boat.
In their inaugural year, they found character, cohesiveness, and a winning spirit made them into a team that others should be wary of.  Now, in their ninth season, this statement still holds true.

07.05.10 @charbautista @nurseshark @missBUAN : baptish!

this is the yummy starter to the dinner joy made for dennis and i. we drank some of pete's homemade vino tinto (san giovese) and had ghiradelli's brownies for dessert! we even ichatted char! so much fun should be illegal. dennis didn't stop speaking french, of the level "haut de gamme" or even better, the "échelon élevé". we made a few new words up: "marronies" = brownies; "un chiot dans le capot" = literally: a puppy in the trunk, figuratively: junk in the trunk.

it was just as hiLArious as you could imagine.

i miss us all!

01.05.10 spaghetti cake!

my sis and my best had the great idea to make this cake (thanks to thisiswhyyourefat.com). lil sis helped too. i just bought the "garlic bread" (sponge toffee).

it's actually a white cake, piped icing for "noodles", strawberry coulis for "tomato sauce", and ferrero rocher "meatballs"! nuts, huh?!

it was so good but so sweet! i suggest making something this ridiculous at least once in your life. it really makes you feel alive... before the sugar puts you into shock.

we encountered a buffalo. a stuffed one with a canada flag on its back that was leashed to a bench with a blue rope at the truck crossing duty free. and the sign said not to feed it? i think that was the least of its worries.

ugh.

so it's 9am on saturday morning and i'm trying in vain to get rid of this cold.  it's always during a vacation or a four day weekend that i get the most sick.  i gotta stop being good at things.  if the boss wants a job to be done right, he turns to a few key people on the staff... me included.  and most of the time, the job is something particularly meticulous and it just can't be done half-ass.  i guess i made my own bed, i should sleep in it.  i just wish i could do a phenomenal job and NOT get sick in the process.  that's it, time for another resolution: from now on, i will only do mediocre work.

haha yeah right ;p

happy saturday, folks.  and happy easter!  hope you spend this weekend with family and good friends.  and i'd like to give a shout out to jesus: thanks.

28.02.10 sochi balloon (it wasn't televised!)

about 175 of us were selected to carry these huge balloons in the sochi portion of the closing ceremony. when that supermodel waved her magic wand during the end of that orchestra bit, we were instructed to pop them by activating the detonator (that cylinder thing i'm holding). yes, they were full of confetti. and more importantly, i got to keep the track suit! go sochi 2014!
