16.06.11 the day after

I hit up downtown after my class this morning. Tons of volunteers cleaning up that mess from last night. I thanked as many as I ran into for repping the real Vancouver.
Keep your eyes peeled on Facebook, the rioters are getting posted and tagged. I sure hope they get jailed AND fined for damages and cleanup. Also, look out on Craigslist. I saw a dude trying to get rid of "a bunch of Canucks jerseys for some smokes". So yeah, report that stuff or you'll go to jail for buying stolen goods.

Lots for us to see, lots for us to do, but only one gold for us to win... And only one beer garden to rock. What a weekend.

10.06.11 a bouquet of... Hello Kitty?

This is what I saw at night market a couple weeks ago. I would have posted sooner but My life is getting overruled by school :/

Anyway, have you ever seen these?! Bouquets of little Hello Kitties or bunnies or Mistis - Or really any little stuffed animal toys - all placed beautifully in fancy paper and lace and sold as a bouquet ($35 and up I think).
Expensive? Of course. Useless? Yes. Cute? Absolutely!

Only at the Richmond Night Market :)

Computer Class Haiku

Computer Science.
Just follow the instructions.
Common sense will help.
---------------
I am taking CPSC 1100 at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. Creating a blog is a part of today's activities.
I have to say that this class is pretty fun. It's a relaxing change from my econ and marketing classes. Oh, the things I do to get a decent paycheque. I know I'm pretty good at fiddling around with a computer, but this is a great class... I love watching the other people in this class NOT follow instructions. A lot are fresh from high school, thinking this will be an easy class so they chat or write email or do whatever as the lesson goes on. Then they're the ones stuck here til 7pm trying to do a simple assignment. This one took me no time at all to do, and yet there are peeps who still can't authenticate their blog. I'd help, but I believe that 18 year olds need to learn this stuff by problem solving. After all, that's how I learned. When they get to be my age, they can have the opportunity to be a computer snob like me.
Hahahahahah

18.05.11 mr. winkle?!

P306

I found him. Or it's his doppelgänger.

He kicks it at the bubble town in the food plaza on Fraser and Kingsway! And I think he's a she named Kamiko. So cute.

11.05.11 kid robot yummy breakfast cuteness

All this cuteness surrounded me in the quest to find a new happy milk carton keychain. So I did the most obvious thing: a mini photo shoot!

I did encounter some focus issues but for the most part, I think the cute factor shines through. I'm always working on my mad iPhone photography skills.

Thank you, David, for providing me with the subjects :D

01.05.11 sunday funnies

Walking to dance rehearsal today, I saw two little dogs sunning on the red welcome mat of a men's beauty products store (I can't think of how else to describe the store). Both the dogs and the store were highly entertaining.

Walking to the train home from church, I saw these kids playing on this huge bull statue on the corner of Georgia and Homer streets. If grown ups were doing the same thing, I bet it wouldn't be as cute, and we may get arrested.

30.04.11 baby cupcakes

P269

Seriously. These cupcakes were ridiculously cute. For all you cupcakers out there, the babies tasted like marshmallows. If real babies tasted like that, there would be a new meaning to "I could just eat you right up!"

28.04.11 little cupcakes!

P261

One of the perks of working at a small elementary school is that the kids never forget to share their birthday desserts with the teachers, even if they aren't in your class!

Yesterday yielded me two yummy little cupcakes. Today, I got ice cream. What a delicious job.

26.04.11 the game 7 rainbow

I used the iPhone app called Photosynth to take this panoramic photo of a huge rainbow I saw today. It appeared after Alex Burrows scored the 1st goal of game 7. Magical.

19.04.11 dad's bday

P236

This picture was taken by my little sister. It was a team effort, with my mom holding the cake, my dad pretending to blow the candle, and me pretending to be my twin, thanks to a picture I had of her on my iPhone. Who needs photoshop?
Good times.

15.04.11 Where am I?

P231

I looked at this view every day I was heading home from school. It looked particularly nice last Friday. Maybe cuz it was the last day of my exams. Most likely.

My snack from sometime last week

A sugar bun (with vanilla cream filling).
Nutella hot chocolate.
Both from the Giovanne café at the Fairmont Pacific Rim.

Delicious.

03.28.11 starbucks coffee cups

P213

Just to add to my growing collection of paper cup photos. It was just a matter of time before I had the double tailed mermaid as a subject. I thought since we ordered "grande" sized cups, it'd be cute to put the "miniaturizing" effect on them. It worked out ok. Also, the espresso hot chocolate drink they have still tastes more like hot chocolate. Just sayin :)

23.03.11 FERRIS WHEEL!

At the Lansdowne Mall parking lot in Richmond!

My feelings are best described in the lyrics to Shawn Desman's song "night like this":

And I feel like nothing
Nothing can touch me now
In this moment right here
No one can bring me down
Makes me wanna say heeeyyeeeeyyyyeeeeyyy
I don't want this feeling to end
Makes me wanna say heeeyyeeeeyyyyeeeeyyy
'Cause anything can happen
On a night like this

... Enjoy!

oh my aching legs

Tinikling is the best filipino folk dance ever.  It showcases poise and grace, and at the same time mad jumping skills.  And it also makes you feel your age.  As my artistic director says "it's for the 30 and under dancers"... umm so why am I still dancing it?! :)
I hope that of the many children I am teaching it to, at least ONE of them loves it so much that they will want to take my place as Tinikling Queen (or King).  That is my goal.  For now, I need some ibuprofen.
