familia

AND THAT'S NOT EVEN ALL OF US!  THANKS TJ FOR THE PHOTO :)

that's what my god siblings and i refer to our big family.  it's kinda funny because aside from our immediate families, we are not blood related.  our parents were all friends (barkada, as they would call it) since they were in university back in the philippines.  somehow they all found their ways to vancouver, and stayed connected for that long.
last night, we celebrated the parents who would be turning 60 (or 60-something) this year.  it was a great night, with all us "kids" preparing the food and dessert and drinks. we knew from the start that the 'rents would be all up in our business, making sure that we were managing to do everything like they did it every other weekend or so for the last 30 years at least!  in the end, and to the surprise and amazement of our parents, we pulled off a great backyard party.
i know that our generation has to start doing this on a regular basis... some of us already have kids of our own!  hopefully, we can make this a summer tradition.  it's tough now that a few of us are far away (annie, char... dennis ;p), but i know that we'll make it work.  my sisters, g'sibs and i all grew up knowing that the weekend was never far away and that we'd always get to see each other and hang out with the best brothers and sisters we never had.  when i have kids, i want them to have that too.

11.07.10 7-eleven! free slurpee day!

funny, a guy totally copped a large sized slurpee when in reality they were just offering these itty bitty sized ones! he zipped in and out on his rollerblades yelling "yeah! free slurpee day!" LOL.

08.07.10 scenic seattle

See the full gallery on posterous
a few scenes of seattle...
alki beach at sunset, as seen from downtown seattle.
the seattle skyline at about 830am, as seen from alki beach... also from alki: peeps fishing and a view of some poles sticking out of the water.
green lake at sunset. yes, the same green lake made famous by the green lake murders. it's gorgeous though. and it reminds me of kits beach, but with less "o.c. bitches" attitude. not none, just less ;)

07.07.10 seattle: on 07/07, at 7.

what were YOU doing? I was watching dwele at the triple door lounge. oh goodness was that a great show! the man's lyrics melt my mind! the set was awesome, his crowd interaction was bomb, and this was by far the best small venue show i've seen since... neyo two years ago?.. oh this man makes me smile from ear to ear. words can't express all the love that i feel... <3 !

06.07.10 danny's screamers!

the BEST solution for a hot day. i usually choose rootbeer slush with the vanilla soft serve. mmmm it's an even cooler take on a rootbeer float!
the only place that i know of that sells this fabulous concoction is in richmond (garden city and francis i think) at danny's screamers. it's been there a while now and i'm glad its still around. taste one if you ever get a chance.

Low rider cruiser for sale: $200 O.B.O. **holler at me!**

It's only been out on a ride about 5 times.

It's tuned up, detailed, there's air in the tires, and it's pretty much awesome.

It has to go because it just takes up too much space that this guy does not have.

There's no kickstand, BUT we're throwing in its original cruiser handlebar as well as the ape hanger handlebar (as shown in the photos) FREE :)

Please holler at me if you are interested.

01.07.10 can i get a suuuu... -man!

This is one of my most favourite Filipino desserts. It's mainly pinipig (sticky rice) and buko (young coconut) with sugar, topped with yummy toasted coconut shreds, wrapped in a banana leaf. SO delicious.
